'Gospel
Steel Guitar' ~
Billy Cooper
“After listening to Gospel Steel Guitar, I
thought about the many years of knowing
Billy and Wanda Cooper. Billy is a true
Christian brother. His playing reflects his
love for the Lord Jesus as well as the steel
guitar. Some of my favorites on this album
are “Jesus Loves Me”; “A Mighty Fortress”;
“Going Home” and “Lily of the Valley.” Great
playing Billy with superb tone!
I know you will enjoy this CD as much as I
do. This is a must have for your gospel
steel guitar collection!"

Inspirational hymns from
Billy Cooper performed on the pedal steel guitar. No doubt
you remember these old time sacred songs but you may never
have heard them performed as magnificently as they are on
this recording. A beautiful instrumental album that you will
want to add to your gospel collection.

'Steel
Together' ~
Buddy Charleton & Billy Cooper
“Original compositions aside, in my opinion,
the formula for a good pedal steel album is
selecting songs with popular melodies; using
harmonies with movements that enhance the
melody; and improvising with an element of
surprise that’s always in touch with the
listener; the subtle kind of surprise that
loses you just long enough to put a smile on
your face but not so long that you lose your
place in the song. This album is well within
the boundaries of that formula.
The harmony blend on Fraulein is as sweet as
you could ever hope for. Of all the songs
Billy Cooper played so well, I was
especially drawn to his rendition of
Shenandoah, which is one of my favorite
melodies. Buddy fared equally well by
playing the best instrumental version of
Another Bridge To Burn I’ve ever heard. Then
there are the Ernest Tubb songs with the
Charleton signature Buddy made so prominent
as a Texas Troubadour.
The only thing left for me to say is if your
formula for a pedal steel album reflects
that of mine, you’re going to like this
album a whole lot.”

Buddy Charleton and Billy
Cooper have teamed up to produce the quintessential steel
guitar album. This recording features the pedal steel as it
was meant to be played. Billy & Buddy have chosen an
assortment of their favorite tunes. Their styles are very
complementary although each picker’s unique style is
exhibited. Buddy plays four selections all the way through
and Billy does the same on his four. They collaborate and
execute some fine harmonizing on ‘Fraulein’ and ‘Forty
String Swing’. A really beautiful and exceptional recording!
As Buddy Emmons declared in the liner notes, “If your
formula for a pedal steel album reflects that of mine,
you’re going to like this album a whole lot.”
